Need of the Program
Rapid urbanization and climate variability are exposing cities to growing challenges including frequent
disasters. These are worsened by unplanned development, inadequate infrastructure, social vulnerabilities,
and limited local institutional capacity, all of which threaten urban sustainability and development goals.
The Urban Managers Course addresses these challenges by equipping urban planners, administrators,
engineers, and communities with the necessary tools, training, and frameworks to assess risks, develop
adaptive strategies, and implement resilient infrastructure.
