Digital Documentation for Digital Twin (DiDiT)

Day 1
Foundations of Conservation & Imaging
The Digital Documentation of Digital Twin (DiDiT) Program began with a strong start at College of
Engineering, Trivandrum (CET). The day featured:
- An insightful introduction to heritage conservation principles and real-world case studies by Ar.
Vinod Kumar M.M.
- A technical foundation in photography and imaging for documentation by Ar. Maniyarasan R.
Adding a vibrant dimension to the day was an exhibition of architectural documentation sheets by College of
Engineering, Trivandrum (CET) architecture students—showcasing their work in heritage studies and
conservation design. Their contributions brought youthful perspective and academic depth to the inaugural
day.
Day 2
Heritage in Focus
Day 2 began with a heritage walk led by Ar. Sharat Sunder
Followed by hands-on sessions with Ar. Maniyarasan R. covering:
- Constructing images & understanding perspective
- Principles and case studies in photogrammetry
- Best practices for photography in documentation
An immersive day that brought theory and fieldwork together beautifully.
Day 3
Into the Field
Day 3 was all about hands-on photogrammetry and field documentation.
From camera techniques to campaign planning, the participants captured site data and experienced real-time
field validation.

Day 4
From Images to 3D Reality
Participants moved from cameras to computers as we dived into:
- Importing and aligning images
- Generating dense point clouds and meshes
- Georeferencing and scaling 3D models
A tech-intensive day led by Ar. Maniyarasan R. and Ar. Rakesh Kumar M J, translating visuals into measurable
digital heritage assets.
Day 5
Building the Future from the Past
The final day of DiDiT 2025 wrapped up with:
- Exporting and sharing 3D models
- Introduction to 3D printing workflows
- Collaborative group presentations showcasing the week’s learnings.
- From field to final model, participants experienced the full cycle of digital documentation.
- The valedictory function marked the end of a transformative week.

Orientation, Foundations & Legislation - 01 July 2025
The Chief Guest of the day was Smt. Shiji E. Chandran, Chief Town Planner, who delivered an insightful
address and set the tone for the week-long program.
Day 1 featured powerful sessions including:
- History of Town Planning in India by Dr. Chithra K.
- Kerala’s Planning Legislation & TCP Act 2016 by Smt. Asha Ajoy Ghosh
- Constitutional amendments, building rules, and heritage conservation with experienced town planners.
- A team-building session also fostered collaboration and connection among participants.
Day 2
Master Plans, Real-World Cases & Schemes - 02 July 2025
Focus was all about practical planning—from conceptual frameworks to case studies:
- Urban land use integration (Dr. P.P. Anil Kumar)
- How master plans are built—technical insights from Sri. Negul Devan
- Sri. Arun G., Town Planner & Smt. Hinduja V.L., Deputy Town Planner – Town Planning Scheme Case
Studies

team-building session rounded off a day filled with shared learning and technical depth.
